Starting Over

Yessica Amarillo Vargas and her family recently arrived from Colombia and sought assistance with their healthcare needs. In July, Yessica visited us to apply for Medi-Cal for herself, her spouse (age 43), and their two children, a 4-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son.

During her visit, Yessica shared her concern about a lump she had discovered in her breast. Without health insurance, she had attempted to see a doctor, but the cost was overwhelming. This was a source of stress for her, as getting proper medical care was crucial not only for herself but for her children as well.
